I confused intentions from the start

Denied for too long
That I could hear the undertones
Unraveling

But his lover's lines were spent
And we only spoke as friends
As he left it up to me

So from the strung out din
I left his chords and canter
I called his bluff

I gathered what remained
Of what I'd had in mind
Undid the lines
That we'd entwined

As I pulled apart the seams

Who with my heart made his art

I wrote him two songs
And let the lyrics wander

I have right from the start

With nothing left to hide
I wrote them down upon my sleeve

I found my pride
